The Dante Durban – AYS Primary School
The DANTE DURBAN – AYS PRIMARY SCHOOL project, launched to promote Italian language and culture in South Africa’s public school system, continued with great success over the past year.
Several students reached the important milestone of PLIDA A1 certification, and more public schools have expressed interest in joining the initiative — a clear sign of its value within the local education community.
Project Objectives:
-
To promote the study of the Italian language in the KwaZulu-Natal region by expanding language offerings within the public school system.
-
To increase the number of Italian language learners by engaging new schools and strengthening interest in those already participating.
-
To connect young South Africans — particularly the emerging middle class — with Italian culture through stimulating and inclusive educational programmes.
-
To highlight the role of Italian culture in South Africa as a practical tool for reducing social inequalities and fostering integration, cohesion, and inclusion.
